Oular 'Kandonom

From Halo: Daybreak

"Long have I thought about the Jiralhanae, and their sudden elevation. How did they fight so well? How did they earn such dear victory in the early hours of the Great Schism? They came to the Mendicant City prepared for war, that is how. Our garrison forces were unprepared in body and in spirit, and so they were vanquished at little cost to the Jiralhanae... Had not the Parasite interrupted their plans for conquest, I fear that they would have overrun us. To the shame of my ancestors by blood and by heritage, they would have conquered High Charity."
— Oular 'Kandonom

Field Marshal Oular 'Kandonom (formerly 'Kandonomee) was a Sangheili Zealot who participated in the Great Schism..

Biography[edit | edit source]

Oular 'Kandonom was born into the Koalom clan, which was subsidiary to the powerful Kandonom clan during the 25th century. He entered into manhood with the name Vlar 'Koalomee and was sworn into service of the Kandonom's military prior to the Human-Covenant War.

He distinguished himself in battle, and by 2552 he was adjutant to the revered Field Marshal Mortumas 'Kandonomee. He was at the Field Marshal's side when the Fleet of Particular Justice discovered Installation 04, and their legion was sent to secure the surface of the holy ring. Presumably, Vlar was also at Mortumas's side when the Field Marshal was slain in battle. Vlar took command of the legion. If he did not lead it to victory, he at least led it to survival and a very narrow escape from the Flood.

For reasons that are unclear, possibly political maneuvering around the disgrace of Halo's destruction or the mysterious circumstances surrounding Mortumas's death, Vlar was adopted into the Kandonom clan and swiftly inducted into their zealot order. He forsake his birth surname of Koalom for the more potent name of Kandonom, and his given name Vlar was changed to the more archaic Oular.

In the aftermath of the Human-Covenant War, he recorded a series of untitled memoirs, the second of which detailed his theories on how the Jiralhanae were able to overrun the Sangheili defenses of High Charity. His ultimate fate is unknown.
