The UNSC Security Council was a principal forum used by the United Nations Space Command to make decisions on the United Earth Government's security, defense, foreign policy, and protection of the colonies. Previously, the UEG had its own Security Council but handed it off to the UNSC following the outbreak of the Human-Covenant War. The UNSC took control of the Security Council as the rest of the UEG began suspending itself for the sake of survival against the Covenant Empire. Following the end of the Human-Covenant War, the UNSC remained in control of the Security Council till handing it off to the Phoenix Initiative in 25XX.

Roles and Responsibilities[edit | edit source]

Assuming the role of the Security Council, the UNSC shifted its focus towards defense and security to ensure the survival of humanity. They focused not only on the military front but also on the civilian side and contingency plans in case fronts collapsed. Since peace against the Covenant was no longer an option, the Security Council turned to focus on strategic defense strategies and informing policy-makers on the most effective way to survive.

Following the end of the Human-Covenant War, the UNSC Security Council turned to focus on peace, security, and the rebuilding of the government. Due to the location of Earth being revealed, the Security Council focused on defense building as well to ensure they had a sizable force to defend the Sol System. They also coordinated with colonial governments to help the UNSC rebuild, making them act as the government while the Phoenix Initiative built its foundation.

History[edit | edit source]

Organization and Positions[edit | edit source]

The UNSC Security Council held seven people at a time during the history of the principal forum's history. The Deputy Secretary of Defense was the only civilian who attended meetings and was often the UEG Liaison for decisions on civilian matters. The leader of the UNSC Security Council was the Chief of the Security Council who is an appointed O-10 or O-11 officer to oversee the council on matters. The rest of the council was filled out with the respective leaders of each UNSC Armed Forces Branch and the Chief of the Office of Naval Intelligence. Tenures on the UNSC Security Council lasted five years for each position.
