Adaptive camouflage fabric

From Halo: Daybreak

Adaptive camouflage fabric was a type of stealth material used by the UNSC during the early years of the Human-Covenant War. Worn over the user's body, the fabric used electrophoretic ink and lenticular beads to change its color, texture, and albedo in response to signals sent by a computer, which was usually worn on the hip. At twenty meters, it was noted as being invisible to the naked eye, and was effective enough to fool some AIs. However, the dyes it used stuck out to Kig-Yar vision, rendering it ineffective against the Covenant.

During the Harvest Campaign, a number of UNSC fireteams wearing adaptive camouflage fabric were deployed, although these units were wiped out while in the field. On February 15, 2526, India-2 attempted to destroy Facility A1-30, but Kig-Yar sentries detected and hunted down the team. Due to this failure, it was eventually abandoned in favor of other types of camouflage systems.
