Hull classification symbol
From Halo: Daybreak
A hull classification symbol, also known as a hull code, hull number, or registry, is an identification system used by all allied forces of the United Earth Government, which includes the UNSC Navy, planetary defense forces, and civilian shipping authorities. Its purpose is to easily distinguish unique vessels of similar type, as well as convey general information and capabilities each vessel would possess.

Notes[edit | edit source]
- ↑ DDH was originally introduced by the UNSC Navy to distinguished destroyers armed with a MAC, as the weapon gave them vastly increased firepower compared to those without one. It was eventually retired after a naval reclassification project in the 2520s, when it was merged back into the Destroyer hull symbol.
- ↑ This code has also been used to identify stealth cruisers.
