Kurt Kincaid[edit | edit source]
Kurt's origin lies with the terraforming operation on Madrigal. His father, Jonathan Kincaid was an ecologist working on the project, and therefore in a key position to know which plots of land would become fertile next. He profited handsomely from this knowledge and invested heavily in the development of Madrigal. Many of these investments were aboveboard. Some were not. It is suspected that he had a hand in introducing La Dicha to the planet. Whether or not he did, by 2500, he was an active player in the synthetic drug and psychotropic trade.
With the destruction of the La Dicha farms on Chi Ro and Coral in 2508, Madrigal became the number one source for the psychotropic drug. With this change came an escalation in violence between the criminal factions that controlled the drug production centers, especially as UEG agents neutralized some of the established players and left a power vacuum.
Kurt Kincaid grew up in a prolonged bush war fought in the Tierra Atlas Oriental mountains over control of the fertile river valleys. His formative years were spent planning ambushes, heists, and watching his family's operations for the slightest sign of betrayal from within. By 2524, he had survived numerous assaults that had repeatedly injured his father, paralyzed his mother below the waist, and killed at least one of his sisters.
A second change came with the start of the Human-Covenant War. The buildup of UNSC forces in Sector 2 coincided with a crackdown on Madrigal's local drug warfare. The legal sanctions and loss of operations nearly destroyed the Kincaid fortune. Kurt Kincaid struck out on his own with a few of his family's enforcers.
